In Loving Memory of Manuel Enrique Cabañin
Manuel Enrique Cabañin-Campo, a beloved husband, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather, passed away surrounded by family on April 2, 2025, in Palm Harbor, Florida at the age of 96 years.
He was born on July 15, 1928 in Zulueta, Villa Clara, Cuba. Growing up in Mones, Asturias, Spain, Manuel lived a life of labor defined by love, resilience, and an unwavering work ethic. After moving to Chicago, IL in his forties, he met his soulmate in 1981, Norma Ileana, and married until her passing in 2008—a union that exemplified enduring love and partnership.
Manuel leaves behind two cherished daughters, Ileana Patricia Adams and Elizabeth Torrez, who carry forward his wisdom and strength, and eight grandchildren who were the light of his later years. His family was his greatest joy, and he relished every moment spent sharing farm stories, laughter, and life lessons that will remain in their hearts forever.
Known for being an extremely hard worker and an incredibly selfless man, Manuel devoted his life to providing for his family and supporting those around him. Even in his retirement years, his instinct to help others never wavered, as he remained active and eager to assist with tasks around the house or at Lighthouse Christian Homeschool Academy, his grandchildren’s school, where he became known as “the school’s Grandpa”. The parents, teachers, and kids alike enjoyed spending time with him, showing him their toys and art, or discussing community events. His humility and tireless dedication were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Manuel will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. May he, through the mercy of God, rest in eternal peace.
